Local farm visit

On Saturday last some of our sixth year Ag Science class (Ditched the rugby match) and paid a visit to our local farmer Ned English of Castlecor potatoes. Ned’s daughter Niamh gave us a detailed account of the lifecycle of the potato. We visited the various sheds on the farm (fridge, wash house pack house etc) to see what happens to the potato from the time its dug from the soil to when it’s packed and distributed to the shops.
This was a very informative visit which also accounts for 25% of the practical exam. But we didn’t leave empty handed ...... as we all got a bag of Rooster potatoes for the dinner. Thanks a million.
