An Garda Síochána came to visit the TY class to deliver ‘The Lifesaver Project’ a new road safety education program. It is a hard hitting and realistic road safety presentation highlighting the devastating effects that road traffic collisions have on people’s lives.
Thank you to everyone who generously donated to our annual SVP food appeal. Every year we are overwhelmed by the amount of food donated, and this year was no different.
This week some of our TY students took part in a coaching course ran by Munster LGFA. The girls also completed the Go Games refereeing course and will soon begin putting their skills to the test when organising blitzed for 1st years and local primary skills in the spring. Well done girls 👏 👏
Our TY students are braving the elements today as they are fundraising for their ‘Camino for Clionas’ trip! @clionasfoundation Michaela, Aoibhinn, Finn and Noah will be heading off in May. Thanks to their friends for joining them today.
TY students took part in a forensic science interactive workshop which investigated all the evidence around the shooting of JFK and the subsequent arrest of Oswald. They were presented with many small activities which they had to conduct themselves including taking fingerprints, testing for gunshot residue etc.
TY Mini-Company students attended a Christmas market in the @ marinamarket today hosted by @Foróige 🎅 🎄 A very enjoyable day was had by all 👏🏻

We are delighted to announce our @btyste Teams for 2025 with over 4,000 students from 352 schools in Ireland having submitted 2,069 projects.
An absolutely wonderful day with actor, poet, musician, bard, seanchai, storyteller Aindrias de Staic, who did a workshop with our Transition Year English classes. Transition years wrote, directed and performed their own short stories.
Our TY classes had a very informative talk from Roseanna O'Donnell from the @rsaireland.
Maria, one of our Transition Year students, had the privilege of participating in the WIMS (Walk In My Shoes) program at St. Patrick's Mental Health Hospital. Alongside 20 students from across the country, Maria spent a week immersed in learning how to support individuals struggling with mental health challenges.
Our Transition Year students had an amazing for days in Paris last week! Memories for life!
A huge well done to Ella Lawlee, Tiernan Mulcahy and Robert Hawe who represented their TY STEM class in the TY STEM Showcase in City Hall today.
Our TY and 5th year students had the opportunity to complete the 'Safe Pass Health and Safety Awareness Training Course' over the weekend.
TY and 6th year Ag Science students paid a visit to Macroom Buffalo farm, owned by Mr. Johnny Lynch.
Juliette from Breast Cancer Ireland gave a breast cancer awareness talk to our TY students. There were separate talks for males and females covering all of the information relevant to them. Topics discussed were signs and symptoms, recovery rates and how to check yourself. Students also received information leaflets.
As part of the TY STEM Challenge, 4B went on a site visit to Gilead Sciences in Carrigtwohill. Students got a tour of the manufacturing, facilities, packaging and QC areas of the building and got to engage with different STEM professionals and interview their mentors on the day.
TYs hosted a range of activities for First year students, from apple bobbing to spooky X’s and O’s. The gym was alive with activity.
Thanks to Robbie from @thebodhranbuzz who taught TYs and music students a variety rhythms on the bodhrán. It was an excellent, fun filled workshop, with demonstrations, games and performance.👏👏
Huge thanks to Ciara and Clodagh from Badminton Ireland, for training 23 lucky TY students this week in the BadminTEEN Coaching Program.
#EUCodeweek has come to an end for 2024 here in the Colaiste. Students participated in Binary Bingo, Murder Mystery, Treasure Hunts, Escape Rooms, Python activities and a poster competition. We hope students enjoyed the week
Students from 4A had the opportunity to meet with Martin Hennessy from U Drive during their 8-week rotational module of Drivers Education. The students learned how to change a tyre and had a look under the bonnet of a car. This will help our students for when they complete their driving test 🚘
TY English students got to immerse themselves in the world of Tim Burton when they visited the Gate Cinema, Mallow for a private screening of ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ as part of the film studies module in their English course.
Our Transition Year students had a fantastic trip to Lahinch for surfing today, making the most of the beautiful weather.
We are delighted to welcome our new Chinese language teacher Ms. Beibei Su to the Coláiste.
Garry from the North Cork Student Enterprise Awards visited our TY Mini-Company students today to speak to them about their ideas. These students have a busy few weeks ahead in the production phase of the process 🤓🤓
Another fantastic day had by our TY students in Ballyhass last Thursday. What a year so far!!
First and transition year students had an outstanding day in Ballyhass Lakes last week. While the sun shun the students spent time with their ‘buddies’ getting to know each other a little better. From the aqua park to zip lining and wall climbing the day was immensely enjoyed by all.
