Pig Educational Talk

Huge thanks to Shane McAuliffe commercial pig farmer, suckler beef farmer and lecturer at MTU who gave a very informative talk to our 6th Ag Science class this week. He focussed on pig biosecurity, pig health and the advancements of technology in pig farming. He also highlighted the importance of keeping emissions and carbon footprint low by planting native Irish trees to sequester carbon, building ponds on the farm to trap nutrients and silt which will improve water quality and sowing some wild flowers to improve the pollinator populations.

He will return again to present to our fifth Ag science class.
