Private School Bus Routes
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Over the past 4 to 5 years the number of students and families who wish to avail of the school bus service to Coláiste Mhuire, Buttevant has increased significantly. The increase in applications to Bus Eireann means that many families who would like to avail of a bus service are refused places due to the limited number of places available through the Bus Eireann Service.
In September 2020 Coláiste Mhuire commenced running an additional bus service from the Ballyhea, Ballyclough and Baltidaniel areas. We are delighted to confirm that these routes will run again for the 21’22 school year. Again, pricing arrangements will mirror the Bus Eireann pricing structures exactly for the coming year. If numbers make it viable to do so, the new service will pick up in Ballyclough, Baltidaniel and Ballyhea villages as well as other viable pick-ups in these general areas.
If your child was already availing of this service for the 20’21 school year we will assume that they wish to avail of it again for the 21’22 school year. Should you wish to discontinue your child’s place on the bus please contact Trish in our school office. If you have a child commencing 1st year or you wish an existing student to avail of this bus service please contact the school office by emailing admin@buttevantcolaiste.ie by Thursday 24th June as we will need details in order to finalise bus sizes. If you have applied to Bus Eireann but you are unsure whether or not your child will get a place on that bus, please await the outcome of that process. Should your child not receive a seat with Bus Eireann in due course, you can contact the office in late August in relation to this private service. Numbers applying in specific areas will determine whether or not it is viable to run the bus on that route. Please include the following details in your email.

The School Bus will cost € 350 per child .
For a family with 2 or more children availing of the service, a maximum family charge of €650 will apply. Families have the facility of paying for School Transport in one or two options; Full Year or Part Year. Details of these options are:
Option 1 – Annual Ticket:
Pay the full amount due before school reopens. An Annual Ticket for the full school year will be issued.
Option 2 – Part Year Ticket:
Pay half of the amount due before school reopens. A ticket will be issued that is valid for travel up to the last School day before the Christmas Holidays. Second payment is due by a date set prior to Christmas.
Online Payment
A link to pay online will be forwarded to applicants in August. Seats will be reserved once payment is made and tickets will issue thereafter.
Medical Cards
Parents with children holding valid medical cards should submit their child’s medical card details to the school office in order to avail of the exemption from the bus charges. Please ensure your child’s medical card is valid.
