Rotary Great Britain & Ireland’s Young Citizen Peacemaker Award

Congratulations to our Peace Advocates who won Rotary Great Britain & Ireland’s first ever Young Citizen Peacemaker Award for their commitment to and progress in establishing the Conflict Resolution/Peace Programme in our school. Zoe Crowley, David Higgins, Aoibhe Jones, Eoin O’Brien and Paul O’ Keeffe travelled to Nottingham on May 11th to attend the Rotary Awards Ceremony with our Principal Mr O’Sullivan and Ms Gyves. The students were presented with prize- money of £500 Sterling, which they chose to present to Pieta House at our annual awards ceremony on 15th May.

We are also very proud to be the very first school in the world to be presented with the Peace School’s Flag which the President of Mallow Rotary Club Willie John O’Flynn presented to the school on behalf of Jean Best, the creator of the Peace Programme.
Congratulations to Ronan Buckley, Orla Fitzmaurice and Adam Carleton, our original Peace Advocates who were the very first students in Ireland to become qualified Peace Advocates and who set up the programme in the Colaiste a mere 18 months ago.
