Christmas Celebration

On Friday 13th December the 2nd year students enjoyed a Coláiste Christmas breakfast.  They ate, laughed, and then completed by a quiz - compered by MC Mr Ó Súilleabháin.  It was a throughly successful morning!  A big thanks to all the teachers who got involved with the organisation.

U19 Soccer Win Again

Well done to our boys U19 soccer team on their excellent 4-0 victory over Scoil Ruain, Killenaule. In a rematch of last years Munster final, the boys performed superbly in a great team perfomance, with Zack Mannas opening the scoring with first half penalty.

When selecting books for your son/daughter, Children’s Books Ireland can be a very helpful resource. Each year they recommend books which are then posted on their website. The 2019/20 recommend reads will be posted in late January 2020 but previous years are available on their website now. For more information go to childrensbooksireland.ie and from the menu follow the link to “Inis Publications” where you can view books for a variety of ages groups.

Shoeboxes for the Homeless

The 5th and 2nd Year English classes made up shoeboxes as Christmas gifts for the homeless in Cork. They also donated lots of toiletries. They were thrilled to get the donations. Well done to everyone involved.

Second Year Metalwork Winners SDG

Some excellent design and investigative work from 2nd Year Metalwork students in their design and manufacture and presentation of a wind turbine highlighting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) no. 7 (affordable and clean energy). Best design went to Luke Linehan and Siobhan Kennedy.

Our U14 hurlers had a match today in Fermoy GAA grounds against Coláiste an Chaoibhin. They were narrowly beaten with the final score - Col an Chaoibhin 4:06 Colaiste Mhuire 4:04. The game was very close through out.

During Science Week Michelle and Anne Marie from PepsiCo Cork spoke to senior cycle students about PepsiCo and the importance of S.T.E.M. Subjects. They also spoke about sustainability and how PepsiCo deals with their waste in an environmentally friendly manner.

Colaiste Ooze Class but Nagle have their Measure in Formidable Battle of the North!

After a blistering start to the first quarter, in which Colaiste dominated on both ends of the court, our U19 boys unfortunately fell to local rivals, Nagle Rice, in the Cork County D League Semi Final on Thursday last (21st of November).
