Model UN Conference

Last week three TY students represented the Coláiste at an online Model UN conference hosted by Loreto Fermoy. Cathal Duggan, Anna Salvin and Ciara Browne were assigned a country/organisation from the UN and researched the historical and political stance on issues such as ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the impact of SARS on developing countries and human rights violations in sweatshops and labour camps. Anna represented the Sudan, Ciara represented the UN Women and Cathal represented France. The students worked hard trying to research the topic and specific stances from their adopted country/organisation’s perspective. Well done to Cathal who wrote a fantastic resolution to the third issue.

We have been amazed by the level of hard work and commitment shown by these students, and the other members of the team, to the Model UN initiative this year. We look forward to seeing this group of students represent the Coláiste at future Model UNs.
