The Transition Year classes participated in Team Building workshops which were facilitated by Mr Tadhg Hickey. The workshops focused on improving communication and group work skills. All students engaged in role play which helped build confidence and was a fun activity enjoyed by all. Well done to all who participated today.

There has been great activity in TY English class over the last few days. Students have linked in with the local nursing home, Aperee Living, and written letters to its residents. Some residents will be lucky enough to receive two letters from our TYs students. Many students very kindly included a little gift for the recipient of their letter. The aim is to create a link between the past and the present as well as offering a form of communication for all involved. Well done TYs
Read MoreAs part of the initiative by the Education and Training Board of Ireland to promote Gaeilge within all ETB schools across the country, all year groups in Coláiste Mhuire will be participating in various competitions throughout the year as part of ‘Bliain na Gaeilge’. Our transition year Gaeilge class will be competing in ‘Blag na Bliana’, where they will document some of the many activities taking place within the school and courses they will be undertaking as part of their Transition Year programme. Dear TY Parent/Guardian, If your son/ daughter’s current TY work placement falls under a category of work that is deemed essential under level 5 restrictions it may be acceptable that they attend their work experience placements. The decision is yours as a parent/guardian if you want your son/daughter to engage in the work placement during this period. Where attending, please ensure that your son/daughter is in a work experience placement which is following all Covid 19 Safety protocols. Online courses will be assigned to TY students not attending work experience via Teams every Friday. Kindest regards, TY Coordination Team

Cathal Duggan, Anna Salvin and Ciara Browne were assigned a country/organisation from the UN and researched the historical and political stance on issues such as ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the impact of SARS on developing countries and human rights violations in sweatshops and labour camps.

Read MoreCongratulations to the graduates of our TY led computer class programme at the Coláiste! Since January the TY Social Action students have been sharing their IT skills with people from the local community. They were each paired up and the students taught them computer skills like email, how to access information online and photo storage. We really enjoyed getting to know all of our graduates and wish them continued luck with their IT journey!
