Le cúpla seachtain anuas bhí daltaí na scoile ag maisiú doirse na scoile. Tá cúpla dos na doirse is fearr le feiceáil thíos. Comhghairdeas leis na buaiteoirí go léir!
Over the past number of weeks some Transition Year students have forged friendship with residents of Aperee Living in Churchtown. From writing letters and Christmas cards to creating an art mural entitled “Our Memory Tree 2020”. The display was comprised of students own photographs of Lockdown and will be displayed in the nursing home.
Students prepared a musical selection for the residents and held their live concert in the pergola area outside the nursing home today. Well done to all those who sang, played music, read poems or short stories. The spirit of giving is certainly alive and well in the Colaiste.
The Transition Year students had First Aid and Manual Handling workshops on Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th December.
Students received instruction and demonstration on:
• Cardiac emergencies: heart attack and stroke.
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
• Scene management and patient assessment.
• Impaired responsiveness and the unconsciousness patient.
• Recovery position.
• Airway obstruction and choking.
• Bleeding and wounds.
TY students also did their Manual Handling practical exam as part of their Online Manual Handling course.
The Transition Year classes participated in Team Building workshops which were facilitated by Mr Tadhg Hickey. The workshops focused on improving communication and group work skills. All students engaged in role play which helped build confidence and was a fun activity enjoyed by all. Well done to all who participated today.

There has been great activity in TY English class over the last few days. Students have linked in with the local nursing home, Aperee Living, and written letters to its residents. Some residents will be lucky enough to receive two letters from our TYs students. Many students very kindly included a little gift for the recipient of their letter. The aim is to create a link between the past and the present as well as offering a form of communication for all involved. Well done TYs
